As a small business consultant, with a career spanning 30+ years and having taken part in 8 different startups at various stages and levels of financing ( read my story), I’ve learned a lot about what works (and what doesn’t) when it comes to running a business.
The biggest lesson you learn starting a number of companies, successful or not, is that no matter how unique you are as a person, your business isn’t. For the most part all the same business rules (just like gravity) apply to everyone. This includes the need to have a handle on your numbers, to set realistic and useful goals, and to be revenue focused.
I don’t claim to be an expert in everything, like digital marketing or bookkeeping. However, over my 30 years, having worked in Fortune 500 companies in addition to small business consulting, I’ve built relationships with proven professionals in every business function from sales to operations. These resources can be called upon as needed to support your growth.
So, whether you’re a new entrepreneur looking for guidance, or you’ve been around a while and are looking to take things to the next level, let’s get started!
Founded in 2008, The BTS Group was primarily an IT Managed Services Provider for more than 14 years. We sold our client contracts in 2022 and took time off to see how things would really change in a post-pandemic world.
Even as a technology company our approach has always been to:
It’s been our belief that putting those 3 steps into practice is pivotal in developing a successful company.
We’ve now reopened in 2024 and have pivoted from “business-technology services” to “business AND technology services”, focusing on providing consulting services to small and medium sized businesses. We are a full service organization with partners who operate in every business function from digital marketing to software development.
We work with you to understand and hone your strategy for the next year or more. Whether you’re a startup or have been in business for a while, keeping your big block goals in mind is key to ensuring you don’t get lost in the weeds and keep working on the things that are most important.
A recent survey found that 70% of buyers made a purchasing decision before talking to a salesperson. These were B2B buyers, not B2C. The net has not only changed how we purchase for ourselves and for our businesses but flipped the sales and marketing relationship upside down. Are you aligned with this shift?
Workflow drives all businesses and all business functions. We help you to not only improve those processes but the touchpoints as they cross functional departments from Marketing to Finance. Are all your processes and people aligned with, and working towards, your strategic goals?
Technology is the key in enabling automation and providing you with the data to run your business. It can not only improve efficiency, but also be a strategic advantage, enabling you to outpace the competition by providing a better service or something completely new.
Regardless of our company size, we all have to balance price and value. BTSG offers different pricing options to fit your needs and preferences.
Let's discuss your business. What are your challenges and concerns? What's keeping you up at night? Where do you want to go?
Next, let's define your objectives and metrics for success, and prioritize what we are going to work on first.
Now we roll up our sleeves and get to work! We'll setup checkpoints along the way to ensure that we stay on track.
What do the metrics say about how we did? Can you take it from here or is there more you want us to help with?
