With a career spanning 30+ years and having taken part in 8 different startups at various stages and levels of financing, I’ve learned a lot about what works (and what doesn’t) when it comes to running a business.
The biggest lesson you learn starting a number of companies, successful or not, is that no matter how unique you are as a person, your business isn’t. For the most part all the same business rules (just like gravity) apply to everyone. This includes the need to have a handle on your numbers, to set realistic and useful goals, and to be revenue focused.
I don’t claim to be an expert in everything, like digital marketing or bookkeeping. However, over my 30 years I’ve built relationships with proven professionals in every business function from sales to operations. These resources can be called upon as needed to support your growth.

Founded in 2008, The BTS Group was primarily an IT Managed Services Provider for more than 14 years. We sold our client contracts in 2022 and took time off to see how things would really change in a post-pandemic world.
Even as a technology company our approach has always been to:
- First start by understanding and even helping to develop your business strategy
- To secondly Identify and develop the processes to support that strategy
- To lastly implement the technology to make those processes repeatable and provide the data to report on their effectiveness
It’s been our belief that putting those 3 steps into practice is pivotal in developing a successful company.
We’ve now reopened in 2024 and have pivoted from “business-technology services” to “business AND technology services”, focusing on providing consulting services to small and medium sized businesses.
